Ami Faku and Urban Village: A meeting of unique musical gems
The first #BasslineVirtual stream features Ami Faku and Urban Village on Saturday 3 July at 20:00. It can be watched on the latter’s Facebook page, Bassline’s Facebook page and via www.skyroomlive.com.
Both artists came out guns blazing for their respective performances with Ami Faku dishing out her chart topping tunes while Urban Village seamlessly incorporated indigineous musical instruments throughout their set.
A live show experience from home
Ami Faku gave the people what they wanted with a major hits only tracklist which included ‘Into ingawe’’ featuring Sun El Musician, ‘Imali’ and ‘Inde lendlela’ which currently sits at over 1,5 million views on YouTube. She also debuted a brand new single on the night: ‘Sihlobo sami’ with upcoming young music producer, Kenza.
“It felt good to be a part of such an experience,” she reflected, adding that “the idea of more people having access to the music via the stream is even better. They will get a chance to experience a full live show musical experience with a band without leaving their homes.”
The culture of performance is alive
For their Bassline Live at The Lyric Theatre performance, Lerato Lichaba, Smanga Dlamini, Tubatsi Moloi and Xolani Mtshali seamlessly came together to put on display their layered and distinctively local sound with an international appeal.
In addition to enjoying the overall experience of the production, they loved having a camera and sound crew that would take the music to people’s homes. “This keeps the culture of performance alive and the music relevant,” they declared.
