Professional Profile
Danilo Queiros, co-founder of Quiet Life Co, has taken an unconventional route to his position in the music industry. Despite graduating with a degree in Mechatronics Engineering and a major in Economics from UCT, his love for music steered him away from a career in his qualified field. During university, he was a presenter on UCT Radio and the promoter of City Bowl Sessions, a popular Cape Town student night. Co-founding Diamond Thug, an Alternative band, Danilo’s career in music developed through international tours, including appearances at SXSW and The Great Escape, and managing the campaigns of the band’s independent releases.
In 2018, he expanded his work in the music business, establishing KuduKudu Records, an independent label supporting a wide variety of Indie artists in South Africa. Joining Apple owned artist services company, Platoon in 2019 as the Distribution & Streaming Manager, he spent three and a half years leading Platoon’s digital operations for their African roster, working on campaigns for Amaarae, A-Reece, Adekunle Gold, Ayra Starr, Sun-EL Musician, Msaki, Samthing Soweto and more. In 2023, he decided to step back into the world of music entrepreneurship. He founded Quiet Life Co – a sound business that aims to provide infrastructure to accelerate talent development.
In just 6 months, the company has introduced “Quiet Live,” a quarterly theatre series, “Quiet Academy,” a series of music business masterclasses, and “Quiet Conversations,” a series of panel discussions. Danilo’s collaborative ethos extends to hosting international and local writing camps, fostering talent development through shared endeavors in world-class facilities and linking local talent with international talent to help bridge the gap between the South African and global music markets.
